Bird houses, Manitoulin Island, Canada, 1997 On Canada's Manitoulin island, I visited part of the unceded Indian land near Manitowaning, which does not even officially belong to Canada. It was to early for the season and there was little to do and see, but I noticed this remarkable bird house on an Indian property. Squiggle-like traces of colorful light bulbs, Ulm, Germany, 1988After having attended a concert in a circus tent, I walked home at night. When I noticed the colorful light bulbs on top of the tent's roof, it was too dark to get a sharp picture. I moved the camera deliberately during the exposure to get squiggle-like light traces. The dimmer traces (blue and greenish yellow) show the bulbs' faint flickering caused by the AC power. Self-made sun at the day of the total solar eclipse, near Stuttgart, Germany, 1999-08-11 The total solar eclipse of 11th August 1999 was a major event.  I lived near the center line at that time and went to the wineyards on a hill to watch it.  Unfortunately, there was an almost closed cloud cover and it rained. But I had brought my own sun with me, drawn on two sheets that were sewn together.

Company logo on van in Aalborg, Denmark, 2000 When I was strolling though Aalborg, I found this funny logo on a transportation company's van. 'Meditating' car (license plate with 'OM'), Island of Madeira, 2002 When I had parked my rented car on a parking lot, I recognized that the car to the left had a licence plate with the syllable "OM" on it that is holy for Hindus and Buddhists. Shop sign 'Bottom Shop', Island of Teneriffa, Spain, 2006 In the shopping zone of Puerto de la Cruz at Teneriffa's north coast, I saw this sign of a souvenir shop. If "Popo" is understood as a German word, it causes funny associations: "Popo" simply means "bottom" or "bum".
