Creek near Schelklingen in winter covering, Germany, 1990 On a foggy winter day, I got off the train to walk through a region that had struck me on an earlier ride. When I reached the creek, it cleared up and the sun cast a pink light on the snow. White frost on rose hip, Germany, 2002 After white frost had fallen during the night, I found this rose hip in low a rose bush by the wayside. The sun had not yet been able to melt the white frost away. Frosted reed, Lake Lehnitz, Germany, 1995 Lake Lehnitz had completely frozen over and I was able to walk on the ice from shore to shore. On my return, I saw the reed that I had passed before.

Air bubbles in thick ice, Dronninglund Castle, Denmark, 1993 In Dronninglund Castle in north Denmark, it was bitterly cold and the castle's moat was covered with a thick ice layer. The trapped air bubbles had formed peculiar shapes. Snow-covered field near Allmendingen, Germany, 1990 When I reached this field, the sun's low, pink light cast shadows tat seemed like rich textures. Twig in deep snow, Ulm, Germany, 1991 A little twig was buried in the fresh snow when the sunrays brushed against the snow's surface.
